Sport in Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. Its mission is to transform mental health through sport, inspiring, educating, promoting wellbeing.
Sport in Mind is the leading mental health sports charity in England and Wales. Our mission is to transform the nation’s mental health through sport and our trailblazing work harnesses the power of sport to inspire, educate, and promote good mental health.
Since its formation in 2010, Sport in Mind’s long-term partnership with the NHS has enabled us to transform the lives of over 31,000 people struggling with mental health challenges. While research shows that being active is clinically proven to improve mental health, sedentary living remains prevalent among children and adults with mental health problems caused by many issues (eg non-supportive environments, low levels of confidence and self-esteem, social anxiety, mental health challenges).
Join us for a special evening dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Children with Cancer UK and Playskill, where every contribution helps make a lasting impact.

Sport in Mind is the UK’s leading mental health sports charity, working to improve the lives of children, young people and adults through the power of sport and physical activity. With mental health issues affecting one in four people each year and NHS referrals at record levels, Sport in Mind’s mission has never been more vital. What began as a simple act of kindness from founder Neil Harris to help a friend in crisis has since grown into a national movement, delivering life-changing programmes in over 140 locations across England and Wales. Every session is designed to be fun, inclusive and supportive, offering people a safe space to get active and feel better, no matter where they are on their journey.
Rooted in lived experience, Sport in Mind was born from the belief that movement can spark recovery. After seeing the dramatic improvement in his friend Jamie’s mental health through gentle, consistent physical activity, Neil founded the charity in 2010 to extend that same opportunity to others. Today, Sport in Mind continues to champion mental wellbeing through a unique model that combines sport, community, and compassion. Backed by a seven-year strategy to expand their reach and impact, the charity remains committed to giving the most vulnerable people a real chance at a healthier, more connected life.
